Moore twists the facts around to suit his own agenda. His films don't show "the major problem with american society". They show Michael Moore's skewed opinion of the major problems with American society. That hardly makes him a great guy.

I'm really not sure how this thread degenerated into U.S.-bashing. Every country in the world has its share of problems; political, social, and economic. I could very easily look up the country for each IP in this thread and list a myriad of questionable cultural mores, governmental missteps, and human rights violations for each one. But what would that accomplish? I'm sure that all of you still love living in your country and would rather live there than anywhere else.

Likewise, with all of its flaws, I would rather live in the US than any other country, and our exploding immigration would seem to indicate that many people from all over the world feel the same way.
(waves flag and whistles "Yankee Doodle Dandy") :D

To be honest, even after reading that I'm not sure I believe Moore. There are a few obviously staged scenes in Bowling For Columbine. One just off the top of my head:
Moore states that the racial diversity of Canada is similar to that of the United States. Then to "prove" his point, he shows a black man walking down the street(which is a bit laughable in and of itself. What does that prove?). However, later in the film he interviews this same black man who reveals that he is actually from Detroit and only visiting Canada for the day.

The truth is, Canada's ethnic and minority make-up is not that similar to the U.S., mostly because of some very racist immigration policies implemented by the Canadian government up until 1960.

Granted, this Canadian racial issue is just a "little white lie", but I think it demonstrates Moore's willingness to stretch the truth when it suits his purpose.
