Wordpress File Manager Hack

by JD — May. 27, 2004 @ 4:10 PM

This hack adds Morten Bojsen-Hansen’s excellent File Manager PhpFM to Wordpress. You can use it to upload/delete files, and make new folders from within Wordpress.

Be sure to get the correct download for your version of Wordpress.

I might check it out one of these days - looks nice. First have to install WP - now I am considering that, depending on the features, this is a nice one!

Ignore that last comment - I was winding him up and it went horribly wrong! Sorry!

I will be downloading the hack later to try on my blog.. cheers!

I very much appreciate both this and the wysiwyg plugins. Is there any thought of a version that can be recognized by Opera?

I’ve just installed Wordpress 1.2.1 and it worked great.
Is there anyway to add file date to the columns visable?

    Ray,
It’s been a while since I worked on this hack, so I can’t remember for sure… But I think this will work.

Open the file incl/filebrowser.inc.php. Find line 128:
    print "<td width=60 align=’right’>".$file[’filesize’]."</td>";

Just after that line, add this:
    print "<td width=110 align=’right’>".$file[’modified’]."</td>";

This plugin does not seem to work with WP1.5. My fm.php file is not showing up when called. Am I doing something wrong or is their an incompatibility issue?

  8. Comment by Joe Schmoe — Apr. 9, 2005 @ 3:44 AM

    Vrada:
The file manager should still work in 1.5. However, the way that menus are added to Wordpress has changed in 1.5. I’ve tacked on some amended instructions to the post above.

    Hi,
I am using WP1.5 and installed filemanager with the changes specified above for 1.5 (menu.php). There is a new menu item - Files, but it is blank. The url shows that it is wp-admin/fm.php.
    Any ideas?

  10. Comment by Joe Schmoe — Apr. 11, 2005 @ 2:53 AM

    JB:
Sorry about that. There were a couple of other changes that needed to be made for Wordpress 1.5.

I’ve rewritten some of the filemanager files and put them in a separate download above. Get the new "Wordpress 1.5 File Manager" and it should fix the problem.  Just drop all the files into your wp-admin directory, overwriting the old ones.

This setup defaults to storing files in wp-admin rather than wp-content. Is there a workaround to this?

  12. Comment by tGriff — May. 3, 2005 @ 11:01 AM

Say, this app for Wordpress 1.5 is great. I have a small problem. I can upload, download, rename, preview, etc. BUT the default permission for any photo I upload is 600. Which means I get a "Forbidden
You don't have permission to access "filename.jpg" on this server."

How do I go about changing the FileManager settings for permissions?
    Thanks!
    tGriff

I get the same results as tGriff, plugin works great except for the permissions. Any insights?

Would there be a reason why the “trash can” icon is not showing next to the files in the file browser?

I have the config file set to “$AllowDelete = TRUE” but the listings along the right hand side only show the “Rm” in the header of the table, no icons next to the listed files.

A reinstall of the SW does not seem to help either. Big thanks for nay pointers in the right direction

Did I upset you by creating a plugin based on your hack? I was just curious because you removed my post.

Hi all. First of all thanks for the great plugin, its fantastic.

But I have a question: I’d like to show all files (of the upload directory) in the sidebar. I mean, I’d like to upload songs and remixes in two different directories, and show them in the sidebar. It’s that possible?
    How can i make it?

    Thanks and congrats from Spain
